Event: Sports Week – Pratispardha 2026

Adi Sankara Training College, Kalady, organised a vibrant and energetic Sports Week titled “Pratispardha 2026” from 10th to 14th February 2026 under the banner of the Adwaitha Union. The programme aimed at promoting physical fitness, team spirit, leadership qualities, discipline, and sportsmanship among student teachers.

The inaugural function was held on 13th February 2026 at 9.00 a.m. in the college ground. The programme commenced with the assembly of athletes at 9.00 a.m., followed by a prayer at 9.05 a.m. The colourful march past by the participating teams and the ceremonial receiving of the Chief Guest at 9.10 a.m. added grandeur to the occasion.

The programme began with a welcome speech by Ms. Shana Mehshaboom K. B., College Chairperson, who highlighted the importance of sports in developing physical endurance, mental strength, leadership, and teamwork among future teachers.

The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. N. K. Arjunan, Principal, Adi Sankara Training College, Kalady. In his address, he emphasized the role of sports in nurturing discipline, perseverance, and holistic development, and encouraged students to actively participate in both curricular and co-curricular activities.

The Sports Week was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Aswin Radhakrishnan, who is a former member of the APJ KTU Cricket Team (2021–2022). He inspired the students by sharing his experiences in competitive sports and encouraged them to cultivate determination, teamwork, and a positive sporting spirit. His presence motivated the participants and added prestige to the event.

The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Mr. Vaishnav Padmanabhan, College Sports Captain, pledging fair play, honesty, and respect for opponents. This was followed by the vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Sravan Karthik K. T., College General Secretary, who expressed gratitude to the management, Principal, staff members, Chief Guest, organisers, and students for their wholehearted support and cooperation.

Various indoor and outdoor sports events were conducted over the four days, including team and individual games. Students participated enthusiastically, displaying remarkable sportsmanship, cooperation, and competitive spirit. The Sports Week provided a platform for students to showcase their talents, build confidence, and develop healthy habits.

The entire programme was meticulously organised by the Physical Education department and the Adwaitha Union, with the support of faculty members and student volunteers. The event concluded successfully, leaving behind fond memories and a renewed spirit of unity, fitness, and enthusiasm among the student community.
