IKS Bommai Kolu Visit

  IKS Bommai Kolu Visit

As part of the Navaratri celebrations, the IKS (Indian Knowledge System) cell of Adi Sankara Training College organised a Bommai Kolu Visit on 23rd September 2025. The visit was arranged to Sree Sarada Vidyalaya at 1.30 PM.

Bommai Kolu, also known as Golu or Gombe Habba, is a traditional South Indian practice of displaying dolls and figurines during the Navaratri festival. This vibrant arrangement of idols symbolises the victory of good over evil and reflects the rich cultural heritage of India.

During the visit, student teachers observed the beautifully arranged Kolu steps decorated with thematic doll displays and gained insights into the customs, significance, and rituals associated with Navaratri. The programme provided an enriching cultural experience and enhanced the participants’ understanding of Indian traditions.

The visit concluded with an interactive session where students shared their reflections, making the event both educational and memorable.
