The Malayalam Reading Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at our B.Ed college on June 19, 2025, commemorating the birth anniversary of Sri P.N. Panicker, the father of the library movement in Kerala. The event was organized with the aim of promoting reading habits and creating awareness about the importance of books and libraries in shaping an enlightened society.

The programme began with a formal inauguration session. Our respected Vice Principal presided over the function and delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the role of reading in teacher education. Faculty co-ordinator  gave a special talk on the importance of reading.

As part of the celebration, a Class Library was inaugurated by our vice principal     Mrs Praseeda V. symbolizing our commitment to nurturing a reading culture among student teachers. The class library includes a diverse collection of Malayalam and English books, contributed by students and faculty members.

To actively involve students and foster creativity, several interesting competitions were conducted:

Selfie with Your Favorite Book: Students were encouraged to take selfies with books that inspired them and share a few lines about their connection to the book.

Write a Report on a Book That Changed Your Life: This writing competition allowed students to reflect on a book that made a significant impact on their personal or academic life. The entries showcased thoughtful insights and emotional connections with literature.

The celebration was marked by active participation and deep engagement from both students and teachers. The program not only highlighted the importance of reading in professional and personal growth but also instilled a renewed interest in Malayalam literature.
