Report on the NSS Seven-Day Special Camp-2023-25

Venue: Adi Sankara Training College, Kalady
Theme: Youth for My Bharat
Dates: 23 January to 29 January 2025
Introduction
The National Service Scheme (NSS)
Special Camp for the year 2023-25 batch was organized by Unit No. 244 of Adi
Sankara Training College, Kalady, with the
theme “Youth for My Bharat.” The camp was envisioned to
instill values of social commitment, leadership, discipline, and holistic
development in student volunteers. This seven-day camp featured structured
sessions by eminent resource persons, physical and cultural activities,
community outreach programs, and awareness initiatives.
Day 1: January 23,
2025 – Inauguration & Orientation
Venue: College
Auditorium
· 2:30 PM: Registration
of NSS volunteers.
· 3:00 PM: Inaugural
Ceremony
Welcome address by Sri. Rajesh
M.P., Assistant Professor, ASTC Kalad)y.and the function was presided
over by Dr. N.K.Arjunan ( Principal ASTC,Kalady)
The event was inaugurated by Sri. Shyjan Thottapallil( President
Kalady Grama Panchayath)

An engaging and interactive session to break barriers and foster team bonding
among volunteers. Activities focused on communication, collaboration, and
leadership.
Day 2: January 24,
2025 – Awareness & Wellness

Topic: Environmental Awareness
Resource: PDDP Faculty, Kalady
A session that emphasized the importance of eco-conscious living, conservation
strategies, and the role of youth in sustainable development.

Topic: Self Defence
Speaker: Senior Defence Officer from Kerala Police
A session that emphasized the importance of self-defence and different self
defence mechanisms
· 3:00 PM – Session 4
Topic: Happiness through Yoga and Meditation
Speaker: Dr.Prasad, Director – NIT
Volunteers experienced breathing exercises and meditation techniques to cope
with stress and improve focus.
· 5:30 PM – Session 5
Topic: Stress Management Techniques
Speaker: Dr.Rose Francis, Clinical Psychologist – EMC
A highly practical and enlightening session addressing emotional well-being,
everyday anxieties, and coping mechanisms.
Day 3: January 25,
2025 – Health & Equality

Medical Camp and Community Health Outreach
Conducted in association with the Nagarjuna Ayurvedhic Hospital ,Seva bharthi
Kanjoor, NSS volunteers assisted in organizing health checkups for the local
community, distributing leaflets, and raising health awareness.

Topic: Gender Equality
Speaker: Ms. Nivi Nived Antony
(Model, Influencer, Brand Ambassador – Padmanidhi)
The speaker powerfully addressed gender roles, stereotyping, and women
empowerment, inspiring volunteers to promote inclusivity and equality.

Topic: POCSO Act 2012
Speaker: Mr. Muhammed Ashraf
(SI, Master Trainer, Kerala Police Department)
The session focused on child rights, the importance of legal protection against
abuse, and creating safe spaces for minors.

Day 4: January 26,
2025 – Republic Day & Legal Awareness
· 9:00 AM: Republic Day
Flag Hoisting Ceremony
Patriotism was celebrated with the hoisting of the national flag, patriotic
songs, and a cultural tribute to the Constitution of India.

Topic: Drug Abuse and Prevention
Speaker: Mr. Sidheek C.A
(Preventive Officer, Excise Range Office, Kalady)
This session brought out the harsh realities of substance abuse and the role of
young people in curbing addiction in society.

Topic: Old Age Home Visit .Students visited Kalady Akashaparaval
and interact with inmates and donated provisions.

Night
Volunteers participated in music, storytelling, and cultural exchange,
strengthening bonds and creating lasting memories.
Day 5: January 27,
2025 – Communication & Health Education

Topic: Group Dynamics and Effective Communication
Speaker: Chakiyar Kooth by Dr. Edanad Rajan Nambeesan
An interactive session highlighting teamwork, active listening.

Topic: Awareness on Sex Education
Speaker: Dr. Sreevidya S
(District Homeopathy Superintendent)
Addressed the myths, biological understanding, and the importance of healthy
attitudes towards sexuality.

Mock Parliament
Volunteers simulated a parliamentary debate, enacting roles of MPs, Speaker,
and Ministers. Issues of national relevance were discussed in a democratic
format.
Day 6: January 28,
2025 – Leadership & Mental Health

Topic: Leadership Training
Cleaning and arrangement of books at YMA Library, Kanjoor.
Focus was on values-based leadership, time management, and moral courage.

Topic: Teacher Mental Health – The Unspoken Truth
Speaker: Muhsina K.S(Assistant Professor, MES
College,Kothamangalam)
An emotional and thought-provoking session addressing burnout, empathy fatigue,
and the importance of emotional resilience in educators.

Clean-up Drive at Malayattoor Adivaram
Volunteers participated in a cleaning drive in the local area, promoting hygiene and environmental responsibility.
Day 7: January 29,
2025 – Closing Day

Function
The camp concluded with cultural performances, sharing of reflections, feedback
from volunteers, and distribution of certificates.

3:00 PM: Official Camp Closure and
Departure
The closing ceremony was conducted with reflections by volunteers and faculty,
followed by group photographs and farewell.
Conclusion
The NSS Special Camp 2025 at Adi
Sankara Training College was a vibrant convergence of learning, service, and
self-development. The sessions provided meaningful insights on gender, health,
law, leadership, mental wellness, and civic duty. Volunteers left with a
renewed sense of social responsibility, awareness, and a commitment to build a
better India.
This seven-day journey was not just a
camp—but a transformation, and a collective step toward shaping socially
conscious citizens.
